    1. I found my diabetes crystal ball and it’s Moira McCarthy’s new book, ‘Raising Teens with Diabetes: A Survival Guide for Parents’. My daughter (diagnosed with type I diabetes at age two) is only nine years old, but the topics Moira covers are the exact ones that keep me up at night as I try to imagine what my daughter’s teen years will bring. ‘Raising Teens with Diabetes’ is written in the voice of a mother but with the skill of a seasoned writer and each page makes you want to read [...]

    2. I read this book in one sitting. It is the book I have been looking for. I have read many books and articles regarding type 1 diabetes, but this one is set a part. It offers calm and practical advice from the place you are. Moira McCarthy knows that place well--- as T1D Mom. She speaks from experience, intelligence and throws in good humor. It was a comfort to read this and know someone else gets exactly what it is like to live this and has sensible, realistic suggestions to come through it heal [...]

    3. Teen years are hard enough without diabetes on board and even harder with it. Thanks to Moira McCarthy and this book I now have a game plan. It’s hard to believe it’s been 8 years since my 3-year old was diagnosed with T1D. We had no family experience so the diagnosis took us completely by surprise so we had a lot to learn. Since then we have learned a lot and one of the biggest things I learned is when the teen years hit – all bets are off. Moira and her daughter Lauren share their experi [...]

    4. I am always looking for information on T1D. My son was diagnosed just over a year ago at age 12. Moira did a great job of discussing so many topics that I fear. At the end of the day I know we need to live life one day at a time but mothers worry daily. This book provided me with comfort of how to handle the years ahead and challenges that lie ahead. Thank you for the comfort in dealing with the upcoming Years!!

    5. Love, love this book! This is a must-read for any parent of a teen or pre-teen with T1D. Moira writes from the heart and I found her style down to earth and humble. I love that she puts you at ease and reminds you how hard it all is. Sometimes when we visit the endo, I come away shamed and feeling overwhelmed; but this book puts it all back in perspective and washes you with a new hope. I will keep this book close because it has advice in many different areas that I know I will need along the wa [...]

    6. I liked the way the book was organized. I think it provides a wealth of information to those having to face this difficult situation. I did think the book's recommendations of consulting with the healthcare team were overly optimistic. In my work in the medical field I cannot imagine finding people with enough time to deal with all the emotional and social issues facing teens with diabetes. There are many valuable resources provided. The other thing I found unrealistic was that the book assumes [...]

    7. I have only started reading. But so far this has hit every nail on the head! Have to let my mom read it when I am done. My T1 son is just starting puberty and this book is an awesome helper!!! Way to write!
