    1. I found a copy of this at an antique store in Missouri. That isn't completely odd, but it is more of a southwest thing. My grandparents had copies of these along with "Coronado's Children", "Apache Gold", etc. So, I got super excited and bought it. To my surprise the book is wonderful reading. The story is gripped with excitement, friendship, and history. I love that it takes place in the actual park of Mesa Verde. You can imagine how life was then.     2. I loved Troy Nesbit's adventure stories growing up in the 1970's. I think I read this book until it fell apart, and it still brings back fond memories for me.Nesbit really knew how to spin an entertaining story, with characters that acted their age and weren't perfect. A added bonus for this Eastern-bred girl was that they took place in"The West" : a place of rugged beauty, cool and dangerous animals, and surely better then what I had in North Carolina - lol!Good childhood reading.



    3. I am currently reading this to the kids as a nightime story. Its okay. And the setting is unique enough to be interesting (dude ranch out west).
